
Course Details
Must be 15 years and 6 months to start. 30 hour program. 2 hours per day is max. Training must extend over a minimum of 21 days. Students are granted 180 days to complete the course.
What are the requirements to obtain an instruction permit for an applicant under age 18?

Be at least 15 years old.

Have completed or be enrolled in an approved behind-the-wheel driver education course which begins within 60 days of the date your driver education instructor certifies your driver license application.

Have your adult sponsor sign the driver license application.

Citizenship or legal status in the U.S.

Pass the knowledge test, Highway Signs test and vision screening.

Any changes to enrollment, location, or start date may be subject to a $200 fee. Please contact our customer service at 1.800.374.8373 for more information.
Students are expected to attend all classroom sessions. If a student misses a session, they must schedule a makeup session by calling Customer Service at 1.800.374.8373. A 48-hour notice is required to reschedule or cancel an In-Vehicle lesson. A $60 Late Cancel/No Show fee will be charged if we do not receive the required notice. In Illinois, students have 9 months from the first day of their classroom session to successfully complete the entire program, which includes both classroom sessions and behind-the-wheel instruction.
A hard copy certificate of completion is not mandatory. Prior to visiting a Secretary of State Facility to apply for a driver’s license, completion of driver education must be updated/posted to the applicant’s driving record. Students should check their eligibility to apply for a driver’s license on the Driver’s Education Course Completion checker tool.
