Ohio Teen Class D 24-Hour Online Course
This online course fulfills Ohio's 24-hour classroom instruction requirement for teen driver education. Ohio teens become eligible at age 15 years 5 months — a permit (TIPIC) is not required to start the theoretical phase. To get a license, students also complete 8 hours of Behind-The-Wheel training with a state-certified instructor and 50 hours of supervised practice (10 of those at night).

Ohio Teen FAQs
You must be at least 15½ years old to begin the driver education process.
You must hold your Temporary Instruction Permit (TIPIC) for at least 6 months before being eligible to take the road test.
Ohio requires 24 hours of classroom instruction for teen drivers, covering traffic laws, road signs, and safe driving practices.
You need to have held your TIPIC for at least 6 months, completed 50 hours of supervised driving (including 10 hours at night), and pass a driving skills test.
A Probationary Driver’s License limits you to one non-family passenger under 21 (unless a parent or guardian is present) and restricts driving between midnight and 6 a.m. unless you’re going to or from work.
