1. Take care of court requirements

After you receive a ticket for a traffic violation, you will be mailed a courtesy notice from the California Court letting you know if you’re eligible for California traffic school. You must plead guilty to the violation, pay all court fees & elect to Enroll in TVS.

2. Enroll in our course

3. Start traffic school

To be eligible for in-car training, students must be at least 18 years old and have a valid Illinois Instruction Permit, Illinois Driver’s License, or a Driver’s License issued by your country of origin (International Driver’s Licenses are not accepted in Illinois). Students from out of the country may drive on their country of origin license for no more than 90 days after entering the country. If you do not currently have a permit, we recommend taking our 6-hour online course to prepare for the Written Permit Exam at the Illinois Secretary of State’s office.

No, adults (18+) in Illinois are not required to take driving lessons to get a license. While it’s highly recommended for safety and skill development, it’s not a legal mandate for licensing at that age.

Must submit Grade Verification Form to Top Driver
Must have a zero balance

Top Driver is an approved provider of the IL SOS Cooperative Road Test (CRT). Students who take and pass the CRT with Top Driver will then only need to schedule a standard 15-minute licensing appointment with IL SOS at the time of licensure.
